I also would have preferred arriving at the start in my car and not on foot;-) I am sure the third try will be the charm for you, indeed. Congrats on your first 24 hour race as well.Ultra Krauthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01218894819250560520noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4538775826437089864.post-9481269726402596742011-01-26T16:03:51.421-06:002011-01-26T16:03:51.421-06:00Alas and alack....I was another dumb bunny who got...Alas and alack....I was another dumb bunny who got caught out on Bankhead... I also walked up to the lodge, but MISSED the start! Started late, and it was all downhill from there; I only finished the first half of the course. AND DID YOU NOTICE THAT AID STATION 3 AT FEARN STREET WAS AT THE SAME PLACE ON BANKHEAD AS THE ICE??? Almost exactly how far I'd gotten in the car!:(
My race report (such as it was) is here: http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3956423
Can always look at it as a learning experience for next year! --heatherhhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11892996422063350991noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4538775826437089864.post-71318908653189920822011-01-25T09:06:44.120-06:002011-01-25T09:06:44.120-06:00Candy, you should definitely come back next year. ...Candy, you should definitely come back next year. I'm glad you made it to the start safe and ready to tackle the Mist. I really wish I could've made it to the waterline part of the trail, but that mountain was slowly picking me apart. Oh well, there's always next year! Congratulations on your 2nd finish and PR on this course! Good luck at Rocky Raccoon 100 mile run!Candyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02600868083362773650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4538775826437089864.post-26775540211357735422011-01-25T08:22:31.998-06:002011-01-25T08:22:31.998-06:00Jason, thanks. I hope to see you at one of the races this year. I am now trying to taper for RR100. Just found out that Anton Krupicka, Scott Jurek, Hal Koerner ans Karl Melzer are all running Rocky. It's gonna be awe-inspiring for sure.Ultra Krauthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01218894819250560520noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4538775826437089864.post-78821615715069793182011-01-25T07:33:21.800-06:002011-01-25T07:33:21.800-06:00Great report! (I wanted to taper for Rocky Raccoon 100 Mile in two weeks, but ended up withdrawing from RR100 with some IT band issues that have since been resolved.) I'll definitely be on board in 2012, though, and am looking forward to seeing the Waterline for myself.Jasonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16943131331477121937noreply@blogger.com
