Only five days until I am leaving for Texas to attempt 100 miles for the second time in 3 months. It's taper time for Rocky Racoon. Richard and I met up at my house at 6:30 AM to run my usual old and trusted UAH loop. We took it easy, comtemplating our strategy for Saturday's 100 miler, starting at a 12 minute per mile pace with the goal to maintain it as long as possible, hopefully until mile 60. If I am able to do that, I might have a shot at a sub 24 hour finish. However, at the end of the day, I just want to finish, even if it takes me 29 hours 59 minutes and 59 seconds. We ended up running about 4.5 miles at a slow and easy pace. Let the taper continue...and the excitement build!
