Day 3 of my 100 mile training. Actually, I am currently utilizing a Sub 3:15 marathon training plan with an adjusted (longer) long run on the weekends and the occasional 50K or 50M thrown in. I have been feeling like I've been getting slower over the last few months, so I nice speed/pace focused training plan might do the trick, or at least I hope so.

Richard arrived at my house at 5:45 AM and we took off around 6AM after I finished off my morning cup of coffee. The training plan called for a 1 mile warmup and 1 mile cooldown with a "brisk" 4 mile run at 6:58-7:18 minute per mile pace. Suffice it to say, it was a challenge after not having done any speedy runs in a while. I held on for dear life and managed to stay just north of the minimum pace, but I was spent after. I maxed out my heart rate at 193, which definitely shows my effort. While I didn't quite go as fast as I'd hoped, I know I put in the proper amount of effort. If I can maintain this training schedule, I am certain I will get faster.
